The BRICS Marathon League is a project that unites the largest marathons in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan) and in the near future, aims to include marathons from BRICS union countries. The creation of the League has been approved by the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation.

Russian Marathon League
The Russian Marathon League is the first step towards uniting marathons from BRICS countries.
Run in Kazan, St. Petersburg, and Moscow to enjoy routes through the historic parts of the cities, receive special awards, and gain experience participating in world-class competitions.
Kazan Marathon was revived in 2015 and has since become one of the largest athletics competitions in Russia. The event includes races at distances from 3 km to 42.2 km, as well as races for children.
The legendary sports event of the cultural capital of Russia, the main feature of which is the start in the evening. Thanks to this, participants get a unique opportunity to overcome the distance laid through the historical center of St. Petersburg, during the mystical period of the white nights.

An additional motivation for achieving better results among both amateurs and professionals will be the ranking system.
Amateurs
- Ranking based on the results of the two best marathons by total finish time for the year — we will award the top three men and women.
- Ranking age categories (within the overall ranking based on the results of the two best marathons) — we will award one winner among men and women in each age group:
Women: 18−19, 20−22, 23−29, 30−34, 35−39, 40−44, 45−49, 50−54, 55−59, 60−64, 65−69, 70−74, 75−79, 80 and older.
- Separate awards for the fastest marathoners who exceed a certain finish time threshold.
Professionals
- Ranking of the best marathoners based on points earned for the two best League marathons of the season. We will award winners among men and women.
- Additional awards for winning athletes in the national ranking.
Corporate Teams
In the future, corporate teams will have the opportunity to compete for a special prize and the League's perpetual trophy based on their participation in several League races.
Running Clubs
In the future, running clubs will be able to participate in a separate ranking — the most active and productive running club will receive prizes and awards based on their participation in League races.

The marathon route passes through Kazan's most significant landmarks – the Kazan Kremlin with its elegant Qolşärif Mosque and Söyembikä Tower, the embankment along the Kazanka River, the Palace of Water Sports and the Kazan Family Center, the Pyramid Entertainment Complex, Lake Kaban, the Old Tatar Settlement, the Millennium Bridge, the Kazan Kremlin Embankment, the Kazan Circus, and much more.

To become a participant in the Russian Marathon League, you need to participate in at least two out of three events in 2025−2026, finishing the 42.2 km distance. Registration for races takes place on the event websites.
Participants of the BRICS Marathon League who complete 2 or 3 of the 3 marathon distances in 2025−2026 will gain access to additional services at event venues, special souvenirs, and the opportunity to enter the Rankings.
You need to complete three marathon distances at League events within two years (2025−2026). Details are in the rules.
The participant must complete the race within the time specified in the competition regulations. The time limit for completing the marathon distance at the Kazan Marathon, White Nights Marathon, and Moscow Marathon is 6 hours.
The Russian Marathon League is the first step towards creating the BRICS Marathon League. Negotiations are currently underway with BRICS countries to include their largest marathons in the League's events. We expect international marathons to join us in 2026.
